Leven Console Table
Leven Console Table
A one off piece of handmade furniture from Bough & Burr. This console table combines beautiful Scottish and Irish timbers, traditional joinery, butterfly inlays and live edge timber.
The top was cut from a single length of Scottish Elm. The board with cut lengthways into two pieces, opening the board out like a book, a process know as book matching. I chose to flip one of the boards and stitch the live edges together using butterfly inlays made from offcuts from the oak frame. T The frame is made of Oak from Co. Wicklow, which was milled in Downpatrick, Co. Down. The frame is joined using tractional mortise and tenon joinery, an ancient method for joining timber that has been used for millennia.
This simple and elegant piece will look at home in any hall way.
