An heirloom worthy, award winning piece of furniture from Bough & Burr workshop. This console table combines beautiful Scottish and Irish timbers, traditional joinery and live edge timber. The result is a contemporary piece of furniture which also celebrates the organic form of the tree is came from.
The top was cut from a single length of Scottish Elm. The board with cut lengthways into two pieces, opening the board out like a book, a process know as book matching. I chose to flip one of the boards and stitch the live edges together using butterfly inlays made from offcuts from the oak frame.
The frame is made of Oak from Co. Wicklow, which was milled in Downpatrick, Co. Down. It features ten hand cut mortise and tenon joints to create strength that will last for generations.
This simple and elegant piece will look at home in any hall way.
