The newest editions to my ready-to-buy furniture collection the planaid (planet) coffee tables.
This one of a kind piece was made from one of the most incredible pieces of ash I have ever had the pleasure to work with. The flow of the grain and the colour variation through this slab are simply breathtaking. The table top is almost a perfect circle, with just a subtle hint of the live edge of the tree on two side. This organic touch brings so much to the finished piece.
The planets are a series of round, live edge tables created from single slabs of timber. Each table top has been carefully considered to showcase the inherent beauty of the tree it came from. Showcasing the unique colour, character and flaws that naturally occur.
A long split in the slab has been stabilised using a pair of handcut butterfly inlays, created from on offcut from the sister walnut table. The dark walnut provides a sharp contrast to the lighter ash wood top.
The bespoke frame is handmade by a local blacksmith making the table a true work of craftsmen
