The Wave No. 2
The Wave No. 2
The Wave No. 2. A truly unique, hand-framed burr to hang on your wall.
Burr wood is one of the most prized pieces in the furniture making business for its amazing texture and character. You can get lost staring into the grain patterns, this particular one looks like a rising wave, ready to break (but I am a surfer so I probably thing of waves more than the average person).
This beautiful burr was hand sawn into three slices from a large lump of burr wood from a Scottish elm tree which grew near Knockdolian in Ayrshire.
The frame was hand made from a single length of Irish oak from Co. Wicklow. The fames was joined with a traditional bridle joint in each corner to add to the technical quality of the piece. This is a joint I use commonly in my bespoke furniture work and it felt right to be able to incorporate it in the frame.
